What to feed my baby UNDER 6 months? . . According to WHO, babies 0-6 months old are to be fed breastmilk &/or formula ONLY. This is because they need to be developmentally ready and their digestive systems need to be more mature in order to start complimentary feeds. This usually occurs around 6 months of age. . If breastfeeding, you can feed on demand. That is, feed whenever (and wherever) your baby wants to! 🤱🏻 . If formula fed, ensure you mix the feed as instructed on the tin. (1 scoop means a flat leveled scoop!) Also, use boiled water that has been cooled as bottled water still contains impurities. 🍼 . DO NOT add extra water as this decreases the amount of calories your baby needs per feed. It can also lead to diarrhoea, vomiting and even seizures. . . DO NOT add extra scoops of formula as this leads to unhealthy weight gain due to too many calories, thirst, kidney problems due to protein overload. . . DO NOT add anything to their feed unless instructed to by your paediatrician. This includes rice cereal, prune juice, herbs such as lime bud, etc. These can be dangerous as their digestive system is still immature. . . DO NOT give them water by itself to drink. This will be explained in more detail in my next video as feeding water is a very common mistake. . . People may advise you to add things to a feed in order to fill your baby so they can sleep longer. Just because there was luckily no negative impact on their child, does not mean it is medically correct or that your little one might have the same luck. . .
