The all-new 2021 Skoda Fabia has been revealed. The fourth generation of Skoda's Volkswagen Polo rival gets sharper looks and a more stylish, roomier interior that's packed with the latest infotainment. The new Skoda Fabia shows lots of promise on this early drive; it’s comfortable, spacious, neatly finished and packed with lots of clever features and useful technology. Pricing - particularly those crucial monthly finance rates - will determine its overall standing in the class, but on raw merit it feels every bit the serious rival for the Clio, Fiesta and i20. The size is also emphasised by the car's slim headlights, all of which have LED daytime running lights, although full-LED units are still on the options list. Sharp creases on the bonnet pump up the dynamism and there are more to be found on the colored plastics that frame the lower half of the front bumper. It's a bit of a crease-fest on the sides of the car, too. You get a triangular indentation in the lower half of the front door (modeled on the Czech flag) that flows as a crease into the door, this and the line that stretches from the headlights to the tail lights makes the Fabia looks more chunky, while the kick at the bottom of the rear window adds a hint of sportiness. The Fabia is a chunky little thing when you take a swatch at its rear. You get a boot-lid spoiler and a rear windscreen that's pinched at the lower corners. All cars get tail lights with LEDs – again, full LED units are optional – and bulbous rear bumper which should keep repair costs low. Drag should also be low, helping lower cabin noise. Skoda says the new Fabia's 0.28Cd rating (the old model got 0.32Cd) is class-leading and has been achieved thanks to wheels that have been aerodynamically optimized, a flat floor, winglets around the rear window, air-friendly wing mirrors, a boot lid spoiler, and shutters in the grille that improve fuel economy by about 2mpg at just over 70mph.
