1996 Brother Super PowerNote laptop computer
The Brother PN-8500 series Super PowerNote was introduced in 1996 as a low-cost alternative to a laptop computer. It uses a Hitachi HD64180 Z80-based processor running at 6 MHz and has a 9-inch non-backlit monochrome LCD, 32 kB of memory available to the user, a 1.44 MB floppy drive, an optional NiCad battery, serial and parallel ports, and an optional internal data/fax modem.
Correction: The PN-8700MDS model with the built-in modem does have a serial port. The PN-8800FXB replaces it with an infrared transceiver.
You can still purchase the original Super PowerNote disk with the tutorial, games, and conversion software on it directly from Brother: http://www.brothermall.com/Accessories/AccessoryDetail.aspx?AccessID=UC9159001&Model=PN8510MDS
