HOL-1410: Secure your application on SUSE CaaS Platform with Cilium

This session was presented at SUSECON Digital 2020 SUSE CaaS Platform 4 introduced Cilium as a replacement of Flannel for the container network interface (CNI). Cilium is a crucial component as it is responsible for the pod communication within the cluster and with external services. It is also a huge improvement because it adds many valuable security features, from enabling existing Kubernetes resources (NetworkPolicy) to a complete set of new resources (CiliumNetworkPolicy), which can be applied to improve security at different levels. In this lab we will see how we can leverage the benefits of Cilium to secure the workloads. We will also study how to use Kubernetes native, Cilium (L3,L4,L7), and DNS policies.
