The Amazing Insulating Properties of CO2

Tonight: a comparison of the atmospheres of two very different planets, one with a predominantly nitrogen atmosphere, and another with an atmosphere composed almost entirely out of carbon dioxide. We will compare daytime and night time equatorial temperatures in order to gain a sense for how much certain atmospheric components affect climate. How much does atmospheric DENSITY affect these findings, what happened to planet Earth's atmosphere in the distant past, and how (or can?) humans repair it. We will also uncover a dangerous false assumption regarding how oxygen is produced on planet Earth - an assumption that could lead to mass extinctions of terrestrial life (including humans)
