Cisco Container Platform Self healing, Scalable Kubernetes aaS on Cisco Virtual Infrastructure

Today, CVIM supports both virtual machine and Bare Metal workloads through Ironic. But as more applications are moving to a microservices architecture, there is a need to extend CVIM to support hosting Kubernetes applications. In this talk, we demonstrate how we deploy Cisco Container Platform on top of CVIM, with the objective of deploying numerous Kubernetes clusters on top of CVIM. We will also demonstrate how using our Control Plane, we perform lifecycle management and automated healing of the Kubernetes clusters. The Kubernetes clusters themselves are distributed and can auto-heal in the case of failures. This distributed fault management is both robust and scalable and helps maintain a highly available cloud. The Kubernetes clusters leverage Cinder for their persistent storage needs and Neutron Load Balancer Service for service exposure. This environment enables co-hosting virtual machine and container workloads on a single CVIM cloud.
