2024 Chinese New Year Show. 2024 农历新年视频 Chinese New Year (CNY) 2024 starts on Saturday, 10th February 2024 as the Dragon (龙) swoops in and eagerly awaits its celebration. This Lunar New Year, let us warmly welcome the Wood Dragon. In the Chinese zodiac and culture, the dragon ranks 5th out of the 12 animals and symbolises good luck, power and strength respectively. The dragon is also unique because it is the only mystical creature out of all the animals in the Chinese zodiac. New Year. New beginnings. As it is the Year of the Dragon, there is a buzz of dragoness in the air. This year’s CNY show features the 4 remaining iconic dragon-themed playgrounds in Singapore. These playgrounds, which are made of terrazzo and mosaic tiles, are envisioned to inspire a sense of national identity. An image of the majestic dragon taken at the junction of Upper Cross Street and New Bridge Road is included. In Chinese mythology, the Dragon King, known as 龍王 (long wang) or 四海龍王 (si hai long wang) is the strongest and wisest dragon. He can take many forms and shapes, and holds control over all bodies of waters. The spirit and mood of CNY is captured in its rich traditions, activities, and culture. The colour red and well-wishes, which are present everywhere, are featured in the show. The rich Chinese tradition of ringing and ushering in the New Year is conveyed through people greeting each other with popular well-wishes and blessings, with their associated auspicious meanings and symbolism. Generally, they symbolise abundance, better fortune, good luck and prosperity. In alignment with sustainability, this year’s show also showcases 3 Huat more and Waste less ideas. Flowers brighten the festive mood and signify a good start to the New Year. An image of Pachira aquatica and its fruits is displayed. This tree is commonly known as Guiana Chestnut or 发财树 (fa cai shu) in Chinese. May you all Huat for a 龙龙 (long long) time.
