The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is an autonomous body responsible for co-ordinating agricultural education and research in India. It reports to the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture. The Union Minister of Agriculture serves as its president. It is the largest network of agricultural research and education institutes in the world. ICAR AIEEA is a National Level Entrance Exam conducted by ICAR for admissions to courses related to Agricultural Science. As of 2017, ICAR has the following institutions: 3 Central Agricultural Universities (CAU Imphal; DR. RPCAU, Pusa, and RLBCAU, Jhansi), 4 Deemed Universities and 4 Central Universities having the rural personnel (Banaras Hindu University, Aligarh Muslim University, Viswa Bharati University and Nagaland University) granting different degree programs in the areas of agrarian, veterinary and partnered sciences. Under ICAR the undergraduate degree can be done in 10 subject-specific domains of agriculture and allied sciences. Master's degree can be done in about 95 subjects. All of these programmes are awarded by universities associated with the ICAR and are well recognized and accepted throughout the globe.
