Construction Week In Focus | Progress noted on WOW RED's SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences

During an exclusive site tour of the SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences, Construction Week spoke to the director of development at WOW RED, Osman Celiker who said that overall construction work on the development was 81% complete. Construction work on the project commenced in May 2017, and according to Celiker, the developer is on-track to deliver the building in Q3 2020, ahead of Expo 2020 Dubai. SLS Hotels is part of the American lifestyle hospitality giant SBE that develops, manages and operates hotels, residences, restaurants and nightclubs. The main contractor of SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences is Gunal Construction, which is a part of Turkey-based MNG Group of Companies. While London-headquartered architecture firm AEDAS is the lead designer of the super-tall structure. Dubai-based Next Engineering is the main consultant and architect of record of the development, and Innovate Living is the project manager. The development features a diverse range of residential apartments with a total of 371 units that include studios, one-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom lofts, and two-bedroom duplexes. Once completed, the super-tall development will also be home to 575 hotel and hotel apartments. From studios to one-bedroom apartments, to two-bedroom lofts, and two-bedroom duplexes, WOW RED has picked space as one of the most significant elements of SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences’ design. SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences is a work in vertical construction. As it is a skyscraper, the development is different from mid-rise buildings. The process was not easy for WOW RED, which is a part of MNG Group of Companies, and came with its set of challenges. According to Celiker, through SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences, WOW RED is redefining the architecture in Dubai.
