The Norse goddess is famous for her fondness of love, fertility, beauty, and material possession, and sometimes considered a “party girl” being accused by Loki for her promiscuity. Freya is a practitioner of seidr, a form of pre-Christian Norse magic and shamanism, and brought magic to the gods and humans as well. Freya also presides over the realm of the afterlife, and takes half of the warriors slain in battle to dwell there. The word for “Friday” in Germanic languages (including English) is named after Freya.
