Easy English Accent - Say Hello Like An Englishman!

How are you? It's an easy question in English, but native speakers rarely say it like this. We want to show you more English ways to ask this question! 'How's it going?' 'You alright?' In this video we look at the pronunciation of different greetings. That's right, we're all British and in this video I'm going to show you how to improve your British accent by saying hello like an Englishman. Let's learn English! So you go to the pub, meet your friends, say hello and the next question you always ask is 'how are you?' What are some different, more English ways that we can ask this question. First of all, you alright? Or as we would say it naturally "You alright?" The intonation rises as we ask this question. You alright? We don't really say the /t/ We don't say "you alrighT?" we would say "you alright?" We also might say "How's it going?" Hows it going? Or naturally "how's it going?" We have a /z/ sound. How /z/ it going. Also we don't really say the /g/ How's it going? How are you doing? Naturally in an English accent "How are you doing? We don't say how ARE you doing. We say "How /ə/ you doing" Again, we don't say the /g/ How are you doing? And what are some English ways to answer this question? We might say "I'm tired' or "I'm knackered' maybe you'd say 'I'm hungry' or 'I'm starving' I'm cold or 'I'm freezing' Again, when we give these answers with the g, we don't really say the /g/. I'm freezing I'm starving and I'm knackered. The next question you might ask your friends is "What did you do?" What did you do yesterday? What did you do last week? What did you do last month? Let's look at some different ways to ask this question with an English accent. First one here. "Have you been up to much?" Naturally, "Have you been up to much?" Have takes a weak form /həv/ you /bIn/ We don't say 'been' we say 'bin' it takes a weak form. Have you been up to. to takes the weak form /tə/ Have you been up to much? You also might ask "What's been going on?" Again, we wouldn't say 'what's been going on' What's /bIn/ Exactly the same here. What's /bIn/ Just like the rubbish bin! The same pronunciation. What's been going. We don't say the /g/ What's been going on? Our last question, 'what did you get up to?' What did you get up to yesterday? What did you get up to last week? What did you get up to last month? What did you get up to. Or naturally, "What did you get up to?"So here, 'did' and 'you' kind of join together and make a /j/ sound. What did you get up... Here we don't say 'get up' we say 'ge/d/ up'. It sounds like a /d/ sound. What did you get up to yesterday?
