How to Make Your Own Custom Magnetite Transformer Cores!

In this video I show how it is possible to make your own custom transformer cores using magnetite sand and epoxy poured into silicone and corn starch molds. Save $ make your own high quality transformer cores!! Magnetite is an excellent material for making transformer cores because of how cheap it is (about 25$ for 15 lbs, check ebay) and it can be magnetized and de-magnetized very quickly allowing it to be used in high frequency applications similar to metglas core material. Helpful notes from the video: Step 1: think what transformer core you would like to make and 3D print it (or make it out some material) Step 2: make your mold putty with clear all purpose silicone mixed with plenty of corn starch. Step 3: push the transformer that you made into the putty, creating your mold. Step 4: let the mold dry for about 24 hours. Step 5: Mix magnetite with epoxy in a sacrificial container, use as much magnetite as possible (mix everything very well). Step 6: Pour your mix into the mold and let it harden (give it a few days). Step 7: Extract your finished transformer core!
