1953 BUICK SKYLARK -- A SIX SEATER SPORTS CAR

1953, the 50th anniversary of the Buick motorcar, there appeared this Buick Skylark, one of three GM special editions. The Oldsmobile created the 98 Fiesta convertible, and Cadillac created the El Dorado convertible that were the other two divisions vying for attention. The Skylark was based on the Roadmaster chassis wearing cut down doors and a lowered beltline and top, rounded wheel openings, and wire wheels. The powerplant is a V8, 322 cid with 188 bhp. So you have a sports car that seats six with a powerful engine to boot. There were 1,690 of these Skylarks manufactured and it cost a whopping five grand to buy one of these. By the way, those Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels had a total of 40 spokes. This is a rare example of Buick's experimental car and one hardly ever gets to see one in person. Enjoy looking at this and as always thanks very much for viewing this 1953 Buick Skylark convertible.
