ssytshiv Ever seen an inchworm hang down from a strand of silk and spin around a bunch? The larvae of the geometer moth family actually do this as a defense mechanism. Whenever a threat is spotted above, they produce some silk and descend down their makeship rope until the danger is gone. Once ready, they make the climb back up by ascending their silky strand. When back in the treetops, they'll continue to perform a caterpillar's favorite task; lots and lots of munching. Looks like this big fella is eagerly trying to get back to lunch.
