The Forest [Early Access] (PC) (2014) (Endnight Games)

http://store.steampowered.com/app/242760/ It's true that the version of The Forest currently available on Steam Early Access is just a simple alpha build, but this is already one of the most haunting, mesmerizing and genuinely frightening gaming experiences I've had in months (maybe years). The Forest is essentially a survival horror open world game with an extensive crafting system, brutal melee combat and a story which promises to blur the line between good and evil in some really clever and unsettling ways. On a more personal level, playing the game for the first time felt like stepping into an interactive version of Neil Marshall's 2005 cult movie The Descent, for reasons which should become obvious when watching this video. If this sounds at all like your cup of tea, then don't miss out on this promising new title from indie developer Endnight Games. Also, full Oculus Rift support is coming. Oh dear...
