PS4 Overheating is a common issue caused mainly by the design of the unit. In this video, I dismantle a Playstation 4 and show you exactly what to do to clean the fan and heatsink assembly so that you can restore full gaming pleasure and performance.

The PS4 has a major design flaw in the cooling system, especially if it is mounted on its' side like a Wii because this blocks a whole side of air intake, making the unit suffocate from lack of airflow. This leads to the ps4 overheating fast and ending up in a sudden shutdown or system freeze. Not really what you want in that epic Fortnight battle or in the middle of FIFA.

You will need a couple of tools to do the job, namely a torx T8 security driver and a phillips screwdriver. I used a standard torx driver without an issue. You could also use a paintbrush as well as a tin of compressed air or if you have an air compressor then just use that instead.
