Written by City News Service - A woman will be charged with manslaughter after a
single-vehicle accident that killed one of her passengers, police said today.
The victim, a man of between 25 and 35, died after the vehicle he was
riding in struck a telephone pole and then a tree as it was eastbound on the
2700 block of East Washington Boulevard around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, said Los
Angeles police Sgt. Kevin More. He died in a hospital about 50 minutes later,
Moore said.
The driver, a 20 year-old woman who is to be charged with manslaughter,
remains in the hospital with a possible ankle fracture, Moore said. A second
passenger suffered minor injuries.
The vehicle, a Honda, (not a Honda) was extensively damaged, Moore said.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said firefighters
needed 10 minutes to free the occupants from the vehicle. LOUDLABS NEWS
