Tension has gripped Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district after members of right-wing outfits, including the Bajrang Dal, allegedly attempted to offer prayers at the centuries-old Mangi Maqbara in Abu Nagar, claiming it was once a Hindu temple. The group breached police barricades, climbed onto the roof, hoisted saffron flags, and chanted slogans. Authorities have filed an FIR against 10 named and over 150 unidentified individuals. The site is officially recorded as Waqf property, and historical records trace it back 500 years to Mughal times. With political parties trading accusations and heavy security deployed until August 16, the incident has ignited a fresh debate over heritage, faith, and law and order in India.
