Review: Moravec Portrait--Riveting and Glorious Pianism
Supraphon has released a magnificent tribute to the late Ivan Moravec, one of the truly great pianists, featuring recordings intelligently drawn from all of the labels with whom he worked. Although he specialized in the music of Chopin and Debussy especially, he was also a superb interpreter of Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms, Ravel and the composers of his Czech homeland, making this 11-disc (plus one terrific DVD) set an essential collector's item and a joyous musical experience.
