DIY polishing a badly oxidized/pitted fuel tank - high speed sanding

This how I sand heavily pitted, scratched and oxidized tanks. Instead of a DA (dual action) orbital sander... I use a 3000 rpm polisher with a 5 or 6 inch foam pad. This will cut your sanding time by 50-75%.
