Ben Barres: What do reactive astrocytes do?
Dr. Barres is one of the world’s leading neuroscientists. He is Chairman of Neurobiology and Professor of Neurobiology, Developmental Biology, Neurology, and Ophthalmology at Stanford and is a graduate of MIT. He has made seminal contributions to the role of microglia and astrocytes to brain biology, especially their role in synaptic pruning. His science over the decades has been rigorous and superb.
He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a guest of the Stanley Center. He is a rare scientist who represents the highest quality in his work and the highest ethical standards in his personal conduct.
