I Asked DoorDash One Simple Question. They Refused To Answer
A few days ago, I received a screenshot of a @DoorDash email that asked customers whether they would rather not hear about Father's Day.
That immediately raised a question... If DoorDash believes customers need the option to opt out of Father's Day messaging, did they offer the same option for Mother's Day?
I spent days researching that question and contacted DoorDash directly through their media relations department seeking clarification.
I asked whether a comparable Mother's Day campaign existed.
I asked whether this was part of a broader company policy.
I asked why Father's Day appeared to be receiving different treatment.
I received no response.
In this video, we examine the Father's Day email, DoorDash's refusal to answer basic questions about it, and the larger cultural double standard surrounding fathers and fatherhood.
We are constantly told fathers matter. We are told involved fathers are critical to children, families, and society. So why does it seem increasingly acceptable to treat Father's Day differently?
This is my opinion on what this email represents, why equal standards matter, and why companies should be prepared to explain themselves when those standards appear to change depending on whether we're talking about fathers or mothers.
Let me know what you think in the comments. Did DoorDash get this wrong? Or am I missing something?
