How to charge your #BMW remote key and how to replace Comfort Access #battery. There are two types of remotes: with and without Comfort Access feature (similar to keyless in VAG). The basic one does not have an option to replace the battery without damaging the key fob. The one with Comfort Access has a cover that you can remove to access and change the battery inside (size 2032).
The reason behind this is simple - each time you insert the key into ignition in your BMW, the battery is charged wirelessly by the electric coil inside the ignition. With the Comfort Access function you are not putting the remote into the ignition that often, so BMW decided that there will be a removable cover if you need to replace the battery.
