This is an ancient Uzbek music instrument, which is one of the oldest musical instruments widespread in Central Asia. Its first development in the region refers to the 17th century. In that time CHANG had a diatonic scale including 14 steps. Therefore, the instrument was limited in the performance of wide music. But on the basis of this instrument in 1938, a new modern chromatic musical instrument CHANG was created in the laboratory at the Tashkent Conservatory. Now, beside folk traditional music we can play world, classical, and modern works.
