Sewing Tutorial: Vest with Faux Welt Pockets + Sewing Pattern - PART 2

Today I’m pleased to bring you the tutorial for my newest pattern design - the absolute definition of old Hollywood sophistication and class - this Marlene vest :)

Here are the materials you’ll need:
- 1-1.15 m (1 1/4-1 3/8 yds) light-medium weight woven fabric
- 40-60 cm (7/16-1 1/4 yds) lining
- 70-115 cm (3/4-1 3/4 yds) interfacing
- 4-5 buttons, diameter 1.5-1.8 cm (5/8”-3/4”)
- 2 D-rings 2 cm (3/‘4”) wide
- buttonhole machine
- seam ripper
- matching thread
- glasshead pins
- scissors
- measurement tape
- Marlene pattern

For this vest I went with this pretty light blue poplin fabric, and I recommend using a light to medium weight fabric that holds its shape, won’t stretch, and won’t be see-through, as we want the option of wearing this vest on its own. Some good fabric choices are Linen, Cotton, Suiting fabric, Crepe, Gabardine, as well as Denim.
