Standoff Raman spectroscopy experiments by Lightnovo

At Lightnovo ApS we were always curious about standoff Raman technology and now we are trying to understand its fundamental limitations in terms of sensitivity at different distances, different materials and different Raman setup geometries.

Here you can see an example of probeless (collimated laser beam) experiments that we run at Lightnovo. Raman setup has no probe, laser beam is collimated (diameter 18mm) and was propagating through entire Lightnovo office (28,3m) with 6 reflections from the mirrors ending up at 170m standoff distance. With no probe, just collimated laser beam we were able to see Raman spectra of mineral samples at 500 msec exposure time at distance of 113m.

Very soon we will finalize our experiments and theoretical explanations into a publication and share that with everyone! Please share your comments and suggestions if you want to support our research or you are interested in such technology being commercial 😊
