Inside the old Shari's that became a dumpling house

Since closing all its Oregon locations in 2024, the hexagonal shells of former Shari’s Cafe & Pies have started new chapters as seafood restaurants, diners and burger joints.

Now, you can add a new cuisine to that list.

Xin Ding Dumpling House — which has served dim sum staples in Old Town Chinatown since 2023 — first began scouting new locations in Portland and Vancouver last year. The Vancouver restaurant hosted a soft opening on May 22.
