The Largest Chain of Bookstores in St Petersburg, Russia

Saint Petersburg is the most paper book reading city of Russia, according to the amount of bookstores per capita. No wonder though. Dostoevsky, Pushkin, Gogol, Dovlatov and Brodsky is just a short-list of world-famous writers who lived in St Petersburg.

The largest chain of bookstores in St. Petersburg, called "Bukvoed" what literally means "Letter Eater". 143 bookstores in the city and Leningrad region.

In the historical city center they seem like everywhere. I came to one of them located right in front of the Guest Yard (Gostiny Dvor) at Nevsky Prospect.

Look for the "Card of Traveler" from Bukvoed in the boat trip cashiers and hotels for 10-20% off price for all stuff.
