Joel shows us how to clean an engine bay by using over-the-counter engine cleaners and products. It's so simple, anyone can do it!

Ready to clean your engine bay? Here's what you need to do:
1. Find a driveway, off the public road. In the shade is preferable!
2. Make sure your engine is cool (lukewarm is fine)
3. Get your products lined up and in order. This is what you'll need:
- scrubbing brushes
- gloves
- engine degreaser (if you're doing this at home, be sure to use water-based and eco friendly grease eliminating products)
- plastic bags
- water & hose
- microfibre towels/cloth
- protectant
4. Cover up electric parts like the alternator, spark plugs, ECU, battery with plastic bags or covers
5. Rinse down the engine bay with hose
(NOTE: be sure not to rinse the sound insulation mat as it will damage it!)
6. Remove loose debris, like leaves
7. Spray some engine degreaser on a brush and start scrubbing the underside of the bonnet
8. Spray degreaser all over the engine bay
9. Scrub down the entire engine bay, focusing on problems areas or marks
10. Rinse off the degreaser (before it dries) with a hose
11. Remove the plastic bags
12. Dry engine by turning on engine or by using a leaf blower (maybe wear some ear plugs if you do this!)
13. Use a microfibre towel to clean up the remaining wet spots
14. Apply the protectant to a sponge and wipe over the plastic parts of the engine bay
15. Use a clean microfibre towel or cloth to wipe off the excess protectant.
