Gov. Malloy: We Must Commit to Ending Veteran Homelessness

Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced in his 2014 State of the State address that he will introduce legislation to end homelessness for veterans in Connecticut and help them gain employment. The Governor has proposed funding for a new security deposit assistance program to help veterans get over the hurdle of finding a home, and also funding for the hiring of job placement specialists trained in understanding the challenges - and opportunities - unique to veterans.

He said, "We know that homelessness and unemployment are intrinsically linked; part of a terrible downward spiral that captures too many people, especially veterans. Right now there are more than 500 homeless veterans in Connecticut. It's unacceptable."
