2021 3D Printer review - Creality Ender-5 Pro review Part 1, compare with CR-6 SE and Ender-3

Some people say the Ender-5 is the best Creality machine in terms of print quality. The Ender-5 Pro is the upgraded version based on the Ender-5 with some new features. Today, we will talk about the features, assemble and review this machine.

We will also do some test prints and compare them to other cartesian frame 3D printers like Creality’s Ender-3, CR-6 SE, CR-10S Pro V2 and the Sovol SV01 to see which works better.

The retail price of the Ender 5 is around $280, we will see what the upgrades are and how much they are worth. Basically, the Ender-5 Pro has 4 major upgrades:

1. The motherboard. The Ender 5 has a 8-bit board, while the Ender-5 Pro has a 32-bit board with silent stepper drivers. I would say that the difference between the 8-bit board and the 32-bit board with silence stepper drivers is around $20.

2. The power supply. The Ender-5 Pro has a brand name, Mean Well 350W power supply. The difference between a Mean Well power supply and a power supply without a brand is around $20.

3. The extruder. The Ender-5 Pro upgraded the plastic extruder to a metal one. I would say this is worth around $10.

4. The PTFE Tube. The bowden tube has also been upgraded to a Capricorn Bowden PTFE Tube. This should be around $10.

Besides these upgrades, the Pro version also fixed some issues that existed in the Ender-5. The 2 most significant fixes are that thermal runaway protection is now enabled, and the bed won’t drop down to the bottom anymore when you turn the power off.
