UK accelerates plans to tackle climate change

The UK government is to set in law the world's most ambitious climate change target by cutting emissions by 78% by 2035 compared to 1990 levels.

The new target will become enshrined in law by the end of June and, crucially, the new pledge includes emissions from aviation and shipping for the first time.
