My son does so much homework in China!

If you gave kids in the UK the same amount of homework that many students in China get, a lot of them would seriously struggle — not because they’re less capable, but because there isn’t that same culture of doing hours of study every evening like there is here.

Personally, I can see the upside. That consistency and discipline really shows — especially in subjects like maths — and you notice it when students go abroad and often perform at a very high level compared to their peers.

That said, there’s definitely a line. Too much pressure can backfire, and I’ve heard plenty of stories of homework loads here getting a bit excessive depending on the school or teacher.

So I’m curious — where do you think the balance should be?
