* The Health Department has reported a record one-day increase in Covid-19 cases in South Africa. 14-thousand-and-46 new infections were recorded in the last 24-hour cycle. The previous highest one-day total was the 13-thousand-944 recorded on the 24th of July 2020.
* The British government has stopped all flights to South Africa. Health Secretary Matt Hancock says a new variant of Covid-19 detected in the UK is linked to South Africa.
* U.S. President Donald Trump has pardoned another 26 individuals, including former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and former adviser Roger Stone. Their convictions were the most important of the probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential campaign.
