Amid rising book bans and political pressure on public libraries, the Free Black Women’s Library in Brooklyn is forging a different path — one rooted in community and inclusion.
Founded by OlaRonke Akinmowo in 2015, the independent, grassroots-funded library features more than 5,000 books written by Black women and Black nonbinary authors.
