Have you ever played a game where one person shouted orders and another asked for everyone’s ideas?
Both were trying to lead – just in different ways.
That’s what today’s video is about — Leadership Styles and Theories.
What is Leadership?
Leadership means guiding a group of people to reach a common goal.
A leader sets the direction, solves problems, and encourages others to work together.
Famous quote: “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” – John C. Maxwell
Three Main Leadership Styles
1. Autocratic Leadership
This leader makes all the decisions without asking the team.
They say, “Just do it!”
✅ Useful in emergencies
❌ Can make others feel ignored
Example: A coach giving quick orders during a final match.
2. Democratic Leadership
This leader listens to others before deciding.
They ask, “What do you think?”
✅ Builds trust
❌ Slower decisions
Example: A class leader collecting ideas before planning an event.
3. Laissez-Faire Leadership
This leader gives freedom to the team and steps back.
They say, “You got this!”
✅ Great for responsible teams
❌ May cause confusion without clear direction
Example: A teacher letting students lead their group projects.
Three Leadership Theories
1. Trait Theory
Leaders are born with special qualities like confidence and honesty.
“Some people are natural leaders.”
2. Behavioral Theory
Leaders are made by learning good behaviors — like listening, helping, and supporting.
“Anyone can become a leader.”
3. Situational Theory
The best leader changes their style based on the situation.
“A great leader adapts.”
Example: A firefighter giving orders in danger but being friendly during practice.
Famous Leaders
Nelson Mandela – United people through democratic leadership
Steve Jobs – Known for strong, visionary leadership
Mother Teresa – Led by compassion and service

Leadership isn’t just about being the boss.
It’s about helping people work together and achieve something great.
So… what kind of leader will you be?
