NFL Film Breakdown: How Brandon Staley Has the Rams Defense Playing at a Championship Level

Brandon Staley's arrival in LA and work with the Rams defense has completely changed the Rams 2020 season. He's using the Eagle and hybrid fronts to help create penetration, one-on-one pass rush scenarios, and shut down opposing teams' running attack. Aaron Donald is as effective as ever, Leonard Floyd is playing a big role, Michael Brockers is controlling the line of scrimmage, and Staley is also meshing the suberb play upfront with an aggressive secondary. He's letting Jalen Ramsey lock receivers up which frees up the Rams safeties like Taylor Rapp to be more aggressive in the run game while keeping a cap on the defense with two-high safety looks. Midway through the season the Rams have a top 5 defense in every major statistical category and McVay's new hire at defensive coordinator is looking like a home run.
