Steve's Hawaiian Guitar Deep Dive #9 - "Patches"

Here is my series of videos of a bunch of pre-WW2 Hawaiian lap-style slide guitar tunes that I learned years ago. I never really had a chance to play them live, but I’m planning to start. So I’m dusting off a bunch of tunes I learned years ago, and thought I’d document them as I go.

This one is a song called “Patches” which as far as I can tell was written by the great Sol Hoopii. Apparently Sol had an occasional side-racket going where he would get hired to come to sets of silent movies in the 20’s and play weepy guitar ballads to help the starlets get all emotional before their crying scenes. This was probably one of them.
