Era l'estate del 2002 e in un dayoff del Tour Daniele/De Gregori/Mannoia/Ron al quale ho avuto la gioia di partecipare, io e Pino ci siamo ritrovati nei dintorni di Verona in un negozio di strumenti musicali e abbiamo suonato molte ore provando varie chitarre. Gli feci ascoltare una mia versione di "Invece No" un suo pezzo e insieme ci improvvisammo una mezz'ora e la suonammo anche qualche volta "live" in concerto.. La sua gioia ed entusiasmo nel sentire e provare nuove cose era disarmante. Forse la sua vera forza oltre al talento e l'umiltà.
A ripensarci ora mi viene un pò di tristezza, ma ricorderò per sempre la frase che mi disse quando il proprietario del negozio quasi ci chiudeva dentro " Guaiò certe volte si impara più in uno stanzino di un negozio che in cinc'anni di Conservatorio...". Anche nel 2014 risuonando insieme in Tv a "Sogno e Son desto" di Massimo Ranieri abbiamo ricordato l'episodio. Come mi disse il figlio Alessandro "È rimasto un bambino... con i capelli bianchi". Ha mantenuto intatti il rispetto e l'amore per la musica in tutti questi anni di carriera . Sono orgoglioso di averlo conosciuto e porterò per sempre con me il suo ricordo e la sua musica continuerà a essere fonte di ispirazione come lo era quando da bambino iniziavo a suonare.
Voglio ricordarlo così oggi con un frammento di quel pezzo che suonammo quel pomeriggio a Verona. Anche la chitarra e' la stessa che la Maton mi diede per il Tour e che suono' anche lui allora e devo dire che mi fa un certo effetto. L'unica cosa diversa è il nuovo Pickup AP5 Pro che ho installato da poco e che rende la chitarra ancora più bella. Ciao Pino.

It was the summer of 2002 and on a dayoff of the Daniele/De Gregori/Mannoia/Ron Tour in which I had the joy of participating, Pino and I found ourselves near Verona in a musical instrument shop and played for many hours. trying out various guitars. I made him listen to my version of one of his pieces "Invece No" and together we improvised for half an hour and played it sometimes "live" in concert. His joy and enthusiasm in hearing and trying new things was disarming. Perhaps his true strength in addition to his talent and humility.
Thinking about it now makes me feel a little sad but I will always remember the phrase he said to me when the owner of the shop almost locked us in: "Woe, sometimes you learn more in a little room in a shop than in five years of the Conservatory... ". Even in 2014, playing "Sogno e Son desto" by Massimo Ranieri together on TV, we remembered the episode. As his son Alessandro told me "he remained a child... with white hair". He has kept his respect and love for music intact throughout all these years of his career. I am proud to have known him and I will carry the memory of him with me forever and his music will continue to be a source of inspiration as it was when I started playing as a child.
I want to remember him like this today with a fragment of that piece we played that afternoon in Verona. The guitar is also the same one that Maton Guitars gave me for the Tour and that he also played then and I must say that it has a certain effect on me. The only thing different is the new AP5 Pro Pickup that I recently installed and which makes the guitar even more beautiful. Hi Pino.
