The used car market is insane right now, and due to a global chip shortage affecting dozens of different industries, it doesn't seem like this shortage is going to slow down anytime soon. But, the good news is that it IS still possible to find cars at a discount in 2021, it is just a bit more difficult.

So, when buying cars the first thing you need to do is figure out what type of car you want to buy - not only should you figure out what type of car you want to buy, you should have a good idea of the make, model, year, trim and mileage of the car you want to buy is. The reality is that cars can vary drastically depending on these factors and in order to get a clear picture of what you should pay, you should first know what to look for.

Once you figure this out and you know the exact car you want to buy the next step of the process is to figure out what a good price to pay for this car. In order to figure out what a GREAT price to pay is, you first need to figure out what a good/average price to pay is.

In order to do this, you can use a lot of (free) online tools - searching on websites like Facebook Marketplace, Cars.com, CarGurus, Autotrader, and more can be really great ways to do this. You'd be surprised at how much info you can learn by just scrolling through these websites.

Another great tool is the Car Gurus Car Value Index, this is a really helpful tool that will help you see what car values have historically been at. So, you can see what cars were selling for this time last year or in previous years.

The last (and most challenging) step of the process is to simply just wait. Good deals are hard to come by, but it is important to make it a habit to look for deals every day, I encourage you to look at online websites every single day and once you find a great deal you love, jump on it.

You could find this deal after 1 day of searching or 1 month of searching - what is important is being able to recognize what a good deal is and also being able to take action once you see it.
