1. Who Is the Holy Spirit? (Not a “What,” but a “Who”)

The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity—fully God, co-equal with the Father and the Son.

Matthew 28:19 (NASB)
“Baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”

The Holy Spirit is personal, not a force or feeling. He:
• Speaks (Acts 13:2)
• Teaches (John 14:26)
• Can be grieved (Ephesians 4:30)
• Leads (Romans 8:14)
“The Holy Spirit is not a substitute for Christ but the One who makes Christ real to us.”

Jesus said it was better that He go away so the Spirit could come (John 16:7). Why? Because the Spirit would dwell in believers, not just walk beside them.

2. The Role of the Holy Spirit in the Believer’s Life

A. He Regenerates (New Birth)

John 3:5–6 – “Unless one is born of water and the Spirit…”

Salvation is not behavior modification—it is spiritual rebirth.
