[4K] Blue Ridge Georgia, Walking Tour

You will fall in love with the mountain town of Blue Ridge. Blue Ridge is a perfect mix of old and new, with amazing shopping and dining in a quaint small town setting. Blue Ridge was once considered an elite health resort because of its pure mineral waters. It was established as a railroad town, with the depot at its heart. Visitors would ride the train to town, eat dinner and take a leisurely walk to the mineral springs after dinner. Today, visitors still ride the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway and take a walk along Main Street, enjoying the antique and specialty shops, galleries, restaurants, small town atmosphere and friendly people. A river runs through the quaint town of McCaysville, twin city with Copperhill, Tennessee. Stand in both states at one time at the Blue Line, which marks the spot where Georgia ends and Tennessee begins.

Caboose Visitor Center
Find out more about the Blue Ridge area, things to do and places to see, at the Chamber's Caboose Visitor Center, located on the deck at the depot, right next door to the Scenic Railway Gift Shop. We've got great free wi-fi!

Blue Ridge City Park
Downtown Blue Ridge City Park is the heart of downtown Blue Ridge. The park is a popular place for picnics, community gatherings and festivals. Take the kids to the great new playground at the intersection of East Main and Church Streets.

Historic Fannin County Courthouse - The Art Center
The historic Fannin County Courthouse, built in 1937, is the home of the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association's Arts Center after a complete renovation, much of which was done by volunteers. Be sure to walk through the galleries inside the Art Center, and see the exhibits in the restored court room. The Art Center has rotating exhibits, so there is always something new.

Baugh House
Baugh House, 411 West First Street, is owned by the Fannin County Heritage Foundation. It is open to the public on Friday from 10:00 to 3:00. The home was built by James Baugh in 1890. Baugh was a brick mason and the bricks were made out of clay from the back yard.
