Cape Verdeans Celebrate at 38th annual Independence Day Festival
7.7.2013: From around New England, Cape Verdeans marked the 38th anniversary of their Independence from Portugal with a day of celebration at India Point Park in Providence on Sunday. The day featured traditional music, dance and food, along with a cultural, health/wellness and educational tents. The Rhode Island Cape Verdean Independence Day Festival is the oldest celebration of the Cape Verdean community in the United States. Providence Journal video by Kris Craig
