ZedLog Profile test 2 / A great S-Log Profile for Nikon Z cameras \ Z30 4K

After several months of extensive testing, I’ve finally managed to craft what I consider to be an excellent picture profile for the Nikon Z cameras and notably 8-bits Nikon Z cameras (Z30, Z50, Zfc) or for those who prefer not to use N-Log. This was made possible using the Nikon Curve Editor, generative picture profiles, and in-camera settings.
The “ZedLog” profile is a delicate balance of maximizing dynamic range while preserving Nikon’s renowned color science. It shares many similarities with Sony’s S-Log2, as my goal was to replicate that iconic profile as closely as possible.
Operating within the Rec.709 color space, it’s incredibly easy to grade and offers a significant boost in dynamic range and tonal rendition compared to all of Nikon’s built-in profiles — including the so-called “Flat” profile. The codec on these Nikon cameras is also surprisingly robust, holding up very well under grading.
