Cognizant – Need Advice Regarding Project Allocation After Internship
Cognizant – Need Advice Regarding Project Allocation After Internship
Hi everyone,
I recently completed my internship training at Cognizant and was informed that after receiving the FTE call, there may be a 1–2 month waiting period before project allocation.
We were also told:
“You should accept whichever project is allocated to you, irrespective of location or shift timings. If you reject it, the project may be assigned to someone else, and your future allocation could be delayed. The company will not be responsible for project allocation delays in that case.”
❓ My Questions
• Does this really happen in Cognizant?
• Should I accept the first project I get, or wait for one suitable to my location?
• If I get allocated to a project, can I later apply for another internal project?
• Does Cognizant consider location constraints?
• Before deployment, do we get details such as:
* Project domain
* Technology stack
* Shift timings
* WFH/WFO/Hybrid model
* Work location
💡 My Understanding
Based on experiences shared by many employees:
• Freshers are generally advised to accept their first project because extended bench time can affect future opportunities.
• Rejecting a project may delay the next allocation, depending on business demand.
• Usually, project details such as location, shift timings, and work model are shared before final deployment.
• Internal project movement is possible later but depends on project requirements and release approvals.
Anyone who has gone through project allocation in Cognizant recently, please share your experience and suggestions.
Thank you!
