Carp Seining on Lake Gervais (part 1)

RWMWD and the Sorensen Lab at the Uof MN are in the midst of a carp study in the Phalen Chain of lakes. These partners, along with the expertise of a commercial fishing outfit, conducted a major seining event on Lake Gervais (Little Canada, MN) in January of 2010 .This is part of a population study being conducted on the chain, and will be repeated in 2011. In 2011 the carp will NOT be released back into the lake. This video shows the 'purse' of the net, where the bulk of tha catch is collected. Over 3500 carp were captured in this effort.
