Master Carlos Machado demonstrates how you can use the butterfly hook to flip your opponent. He covers several mistakes that you need to avoid to not lose the guard when trying to apply the butterfly sweep. He goes on to explain that if you can’t achieve the flip, simply start from square one by bringing them back to the starting position. “Everytime I fail to get them into position, I just reset.” Quickly resetting to perform the flip from the opposite side can confuse your opponent and land your sweep.
