NASA’s Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory has spent more than 20 years watching the universe’s most violent events — including gamma-ray bursts, black holes, stellar flares, and other powerful cosmic explosions.
But Swift’s orbit is slowly dropping.
Now NASA is planning a bold rescue mission: send a robotic spacecraft to reach Swift, capture it, and raise its orbit so the telescope can keep working.
That’s the wonder of Swift.
