This week on Same Ship Different Day, our narrowboat adventure continues as we enjoy one final day exploring Birmingham before beginning our journey out of the city. We take in the sights of Birmingham’s famous canals, enjoy a lively sing-song in a traditional pub, and somehow manage to secure an unexpected victory in the pub quiz!

But once we cast off, things quickly become far more challenging. What should have been a straightforward cruise turns into one of our most stressful narrowboat journeys yet. We face engine trouble, strong winds, a completely blocked propeller, and uncertainty over whether our chosen mooring is actually safe for the night. Life on a narrowboat is never boring!

Thankfully, it’s not all drama. Along the way we are treated to some incredible wildlife sightings, with dozens of newborn birds lining the canals. From adorable cygnets and fluffy goslings to ducklings and other canal wildlife, there’s plenty of beauty to balance out the chaos.
