Is "Implementation" the Right Theme for COP27?

The 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP27, kicked off in November 2022 in Sharm el-Sheik, Egypt. Representatives from 198 countries met to negotiate the next batch of global climate agreements.

Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of the UN Climate Convention, opened the conference by saying, “Today a new era begins — and we begin to do things differently. Paris gave us the agreement. Katowice and Glasgow gave us the plan. Sharm el-Sheik shifts us to implementation.”

After years of climate pledges looking decades into the future, having leaders finally focus on implementation sounded exciting. In this episode of “Tip of the Iceberg,” host Ethan Brown analyzes the plans presented at COP27 and identifies which issues still require solutions to be found.
